FOUNDATION LAYING OF AGULERI UNITY CENTER
It was indeed a gathering of who is who in Aguleri as the community made a bold statement in unity and peace through the foundation laying ceremony of Aguleri Unity Center. The Unity Center which is all encompassing architectural design with halls, meeting rooms, offices, skill acquisition, library, ICT center, a relaxation hub including swimming pool and a restaurant is situated at Aguleri Junction, Anambra East Council Area.
Aguleri World Forum (AWF) under the Chairmanship of Dr. Pastor Jossy Akwuobu PhD has shown resilience in setting standards in conflict resolution, setting of platforms that create jobs and development in Aguleri and it’s environs; and championing peaceful co-existence in the Omambala region. The AWF is in the forefront with ideas and projects for fruitful engagements of critical stakeholders for transparency, accountability, innovation and peace in the Omambala region.
The traditional ruler of Aguleri, Eze Dr Micheal Idigo, Ezeudo, Eze Aguleri, during the breaking of the traditional kolanut, expressed happiness that the event is happening during his reign. He praised the leadership of AWF ANYA (Aguleri National Youth Association) for this project and prayed that peace and progress will meet Ndi Aguleri in all their endeavours. Eze Akajiofor Igbo, Eze Augustine Chukwuemeka Eri, Eze Eri the 34th, during his prayer handed Aguleri and the whole Omambala region unto the Able Care of God Almighty. He prayed that God will Guide and Protect Ndi Igbo in all they do.
The Chairman of the occasion, High Chief Hon. Chriscato Ameke, a member of the 7th Assembly at the Green Chamber, Abuja, in his opening remarks stated that the historic event is a sure panacea for development, peace, innovative pursuit and youth empowerment. He further stated that the importance of this project is that Ndi Aguleri are speaking with one voice; and that the project will restore brotherlines among Ndi Aguleri.
The Managing Director of Anambra State Sports Commission, Chief Tony Oli (Omenaokochi n’ Aguleri) the Chairman of the Fundraising Committee for the project expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and enjoined Ndi Aguleri to embrace this laudable project that will ultimately unite us more. He called for greater participation by all and sundry.
Architect Willie Okafor ( Atata Aguleri), the Chairman of the Building Committee, said that the citing of such symbolic institution in the area will impact on Ndi Aguleri and their neighbours, and will strengthen good neighborliness as it will be a place of use and collaboration for all peace loving people. He is of the firm belief that the project will create jobs, which ultimately
takes youths off the street.
While consecrating the project site, the Anglican Bishop of Afikpo Diocese, Right Reverend Paul Udogu praised God for the peace in Aguleri and with their neighbors, stating that indeed, the Hand of God has taken control in Aguleri and with our neighborhood. He prayed for more progress and blessings upon the land. So that we and our neighbor will build on the peace and progress God has allow us to make through the Administration of Gov. Willie Obiano.
The youth they say is the bedrock of development of any community and this set the tone for the indefatigable President of Aguleri National Youth Association (ANYA) Chief Nnamdi Adimorah (Eze Amuluamu) who while enumerating their efforts in seeing to the conception of the project, maintained that the youths will not indulge in anything that will tarnish the image of the community but will continue to defend Aguleri even as they champion the course for peace and prosperity.
Among those present at the occasion were the traditional ruler Eziagulu Otu, Igwe Udoji Ikegbunam, The President General of Aguleri Town Union , Chief (Bar) Hypo Onwuegbuke ,Chief Amaechi Akorah (Agbogidi Aguleri) , Vice President AWF Bar Oba Chidozie , a member of the Building Committee Ogbuevi Chinedu Anaukwu , Ogbuevi Ike Chioba (Ogbuaku Aguleri ),Ndi ichie, Ndi Ojiani Aguleri and Ojiana uno and other sons of Aguleri and their friends. It was indeed a wonderful occasion that will linger in the minds of Ndi Aguleri as they step forward to build for the community.
